My Name is David Yerks-Young.
Blind Eye on the Desert was created out of the necessity for the visually impaired / blind community in Palm Springs, California.

Palm Springs is a tourist destination; as such, many of the activities to do in Palm Springs are for them; tourists. Although some of the tour companies have trained guides for us, several of them are expensive.
A great portion of the visually impaired / blind community relies on Social Security or Disability Income; no matter what their ages, and may not be able to afford the popular destinations.
Even while we are still in the throws of the Covid-19 pandemic, there are things we can do and places we can go. Simple things such as going for walks either using our white canes, guide dog, or a human guide.
During these walks, we can get to know each other, and talk about what is going on in our lives, current events (with an open mind), etc. Perhaps have a coffee or other beverages and a snack. There is no need for us to be or feel lonely often brought on by being blind. Sometimes it helps to talk to others who also live with visual impairments or are blind.
